Foster Salsbury kept scrapbooks and binders for memorabilia relating to his business endeavors. Scott Doering acquired the post-war scrapbooks and binders from Salsbury family members. Four years later Russ found the 1935 to 1945 scrapbooks and binders (the Motor Glide years) on ebay - these items had been in a storage locker and were discovered by a storage locker picker.
There scrapbooks and binders tell a great story. Foster was a very innovative businessman, with an eye for design and a knack for marketing. Notwithstanding numerous advantages, Foster failed to create a successful scooter business. But a fair number of his scooters survive, and are highly prized by collectors.
The scrapbook reflected below covers Foster's Motor Glide business (with a few things related to the post war scooter attempt). The scrapbook is presented as found. The first pages are circa 1943, and successive pages go BACK in time. The last few pages reflect the post war activity to a very limited extent. Some items are missing - the glue or paste used dried out. But much of the scrapbook still remains. Click on the picture icon to see the page in detail.
